The list below is of ten straightforward West Gallery pieces suitable for newcomers to the genre. If we find that we can sing some of these fairly easily, then there is plenty more challenging material for us to tackle. These pieces are all soprano-led (except #7, which is bass-led.) Much West Gallery repertoire is tenor-led; how much of this we can tackle depends on how many tenors sign up for the course. Likewise, there is much repertoire with instrumental passages or "symphonies"; once again, how much of this material we can do depends on how many instrumentalists sign up. So, if you know any tenors or any instrumentalists, you know what to do! Clicking on S will bring up a Sibelius Scorch file, which you can listen to as well as downloading and printing; there is more information about these here. Clicking on pdf will bring up a downloadable and printable pdf file. (Be patient while the software loads.) There is no copyright restriction on these files for amateur use; please feel free to download them and use them as you will. |
